this song has been on my playlist for the longest time, and i guess now’s a good time to write about it. pallers is the latest act signed to the labrador roster, with a debut ep humdrum out tomorrow on good ol’ 12″ vinyl. according to the band, their music production process has them with one leg in “the green grass of pop” and the other “out on its own, wandering between places such as dancefloors, sandy beaches, cold concrete and a weightless existence in a bed or a hammock”. how lovely. “humdrum” the song provides a semblance of the mundane existence suggested in its title with its hypnotic, but never overpowering beats interacting beautifully with its lazily painted environment (dare i call this post-pop?). i don’t quite know where i am everytime i hear this, and it effortlessly persuades me not to care.
