in a short span of three years of their existence, galaxie 500 produced three great albums and that was that. in their first album today, they pay tribute to one of their major influences johnathan richman by covering his “don’t let our youth go to waste”, taking their time slowly building the song layer by layer, at some points resembling a sedated joy division or even a spaced out velvet underground. it’s a rolling stone that gathers much momentum and mass in the wide expanse of its trail, but yet chooses to remain the understated beauty that it is. try turning up the volume on this one, and see how everything stays intact.
