i was listening to flying lotus when i got adrian’s text message about this song by dntel. featuring the lovely vocals of mia doi todd, who has incidentally worked with flying lotus, “rock my boat” is a deceptively simple song that marries earthy folk with very measured glitch and ambience, whilst riding on a lull downtempo. i’ve got to admit i’ve never listened much to dntel, but this certainly counts as required waking up to music.
